Bio-ARA WORKSHOP AND CONFERENCES

Accompanied Self-Rehabilitation in bio-based materialsMining towns of Nord-Pas-de-Calais – 3-9 September

The ARA, accompanied self-rehabilitation, is a participatory building site system that associates experts (craftsmen, Compagnons Bâtisseurs, etc.) and handymen (inhabitants, young trainees in the building trades field, students…). It is a way to rethink the entire production chain of renovation projects, from programming to management. The ARA is committed to neighborhood’s and housing heritage value recognition by the inhabitants. In this sense, it contributes to the fight against energy precariousness.
The week combines participatory workshop, conferences and a study day to insight the issue of accompanied self-rehabilitation by joining the use of bio-based materials. The study area is the city of Harnes, more precisely the site of Orient and Bellevue, social housing heritage site, with a population in important economic and energy precariousness, listed in 2012 by UNESCO as “Living evolving cultural landscapes’.
